An elective class turned Gala practice

June 19, 2008 1:59 PM
Early this morning, Sheng briefed the scholars on pole dancing. A common misconception of this was that it was exclusively for strip dancers. However, Sheng looks at it as a sport since it tones muscles aside from it being a good exercise. She twirled around the pole and impressed the rest. Unfortunately, the Singing Comedian had a minor injury which suspended the class temporarily. She was given proper medications but was advised to discontinue with the activity.

The scholars moved to the house and went about their facial exercises to ready themselves for singing class. All sang with the musical arrangement for the first time and they groped for the right melody.

Apple went first and Teacher Monet was worried on how she juts her head forward every time she sings. Bea also had the same problem since she juts her jaw in a distracting way. The Voice Mentor was pleased with Liezel’s performance however she has yet to go all out and let everything go.

Bugoy lacked confidence in performing and Teacher Monet reminded him of going through a series of auditions to get there. Bunny had to supply more air with her high note song while Jet had to control his fluttering eyelids.

Everyone had to keep eye contact with the Voice Mentor but Laarni failed to do so. She closed her eyes several times but she wasn’t fooling anybody according to Teacher Monet. The scholar couldn't help but break down with the critique. The Voice Coach comforted her and gave her a reminder to sing with sincerity and with her eyes open in order to tell the story to her audience.

Miguel, Chivas and Van had trouble with incorporating too many technical aspects such as acting and voice trembling to prolong the note. To the three, Teacher Monet advised them to remove all technicalities and sing with sincerity and passion.

Hansen on the other hand was a bit distracted and conscious with himself. Teacher Monet then had his close friends Cris and Bugoy stand by for him to connect with and keep him confident. The voice mentor advised him to love his voice and fear not of losing poise in front of the people. Though Ross had flats and other minor mistakes, he still continued with his song and delivered decently. The voice coach pointed out that if they sang with flats, they should still proceed with their performance.

With all the lessons and advises given to them, will the scholars be able to incorporate these in their first ever Gala night? Keep track of your talented crew and watch Uberture for exciting updates!
