Scholars hear the Headmaster’s opinions

August 12, 2008 1:39 AM

Headmaster Ryan Cayabyab backtracked on the Scholars performances last Saturday, so that he could relay to the Scholars his personal observations. In order to refresh the Scholars’ memory of the said performance night, he played the event’s reruns. And to further enhance the learning experience, he also encouraged the Scholars to voice out their own opinions. The main goal of this activity is to encourage improvements from the Scholars, not necessarily to make them feel down.

Laarni was the first Scholar on the hot seat. With her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody, the Headmaster was indeed impressed. He admitted that the song isn’t actually intended for a solo act, and yet she was able to successfully pin it. He also added that her shifting was indeed impressive, though she had minor problems with her notes. Poy agreed with the Headmaster, and as an additional opinion, she also pointed out her lyrics inconsistency.

Though Miguel has a remarkable musicality, the Headmaster was somehow intimidated with his stage presence. He said that Miguel has too many unnecessary facial contortions. Aside from that, he also failed to maximize the use of his body, performance wise.

In contrast with Miguel, Mr. C claimed that Sen has a very commendable stage presence, but an underdeveloped musicality. Based on his performance last Saturday, his voice lacked the intensity that the song needed, which probably pulled him down the ranking.

On Iñaki’s case, on the other hand, the problem with his stage presence was the overpowering feel of arrogance. The Headmaster said that he knows for a fact that Iñaki is a sweet and nice guy, but his gestures during his performance last Saturday somehow implies conceitedness toward his audience. How could the Stage Performer possibly take this rather harsh comment? Find out on PinoyDreamAcademy Season 2 Uberture and catch the full story, tomorrow after They Kissed Again!
