Bugoy polishes his English

July 18, 2008 9:47 AM

Bugoy admits that he has poor English skills. Aside from diction, he also has a hard time expressing himself using the English language. To overcome this weakness, his friends did their best to help him by putting his English communication skills on practical application.

While the boys were in the jacuzzi, Bea, being a natural English speaking lass inside the Academy, initiated an “English only” policy with Bugoy in order to familiarize him with the language. But aside from lucidly bringing out the language from Bugoy’s mouth, Bea also made the practice a venue for Bugoy to finally set his hidden feelings out to the open.

Earlier, Sen, Van and Bugoy already had a chance to vent out their personal concerns with each other. But with the power of the English language, Bugoy found a way to further express himself to his friends. Openly, he shared his insecurities to Bea, Van and Sen. According to him, being the only boy among siblings, he is indeed eager to search for a brother image, thus resulting to his extreme possessiveness of Sen and Van.

In the said discussion, Bugoy also had the chance to share how he tried to financially help his family by selling donuts, peanuts, and tamarind candies at school during his elementary days. He said that he felt embarrassed about this, but his co-Scholars instantly swayed him off the unnecessary thought. All of them insisted that there was nothing to be ashamed about being a good son.

It seemed as if Bugoy’s eagerness to master the English language gave him an opportunity to let go of his locked emotions. Now that he is more open with his feelings toward his friends, will this be a start of having a better relationship with his Academy buddies?
